Independence Day

On September 15th, Costa Rica celebrates Independence Day. This was from when Central America declared independence from Spain in 1821.

A Celebration!

Throughout the country there are celebrations for the days around the 15th. This celebration occurred in the Carrillo District on September 13th.

This was a massive motorcycle/bicycle parade which travelled from at least Comunidad, all the way to Coco. The parades travelled along the road, revving engines honking and waving Costa Rican flags. Residents along the path wait outside with children to watch the festivity.

We managed to press forward through the traffic and capture some shots of the participants. It was very big group and very loud. Everyone was in great spirits and having a fantastic time.

This video was filmed on a GoPro, which are incredible action cameras. These cameras feature excellent color and resolution options. The built in stabilization modes make your videos buttery-smooth. Add a GoPro to your vacation and capture your memories in high definition.

Finished In Town

The parade of motorcycles and bikes ended up right in downtown Coco. More onlookers gathered all throughout the streets to watch the massive crowd of participants. The experience was great, given that it was seemingly marshalled by only a few of the participants.

The crows loved the show, and especially a small van that had a modified exhaust. This little truck would stop periodically and fire the exhaust to create some firework-like sounds.

Very Exciting Event

Keep this festivity in mind if you’re in Coco, Guanacaste around the time of September 13th – 15th.
